Bumbscreen/KDS

Bumpscreens or KDS from admin panel

KDS means Kitchen Display System. Admin user can create one or more bumpscreens/KDS for a store from the store's detail page corresponding to the physical KDS device (using the local KDS).

All products in KDS for a ticket will be grouped based on its category.

List of Bump Screens

This tab displays all bump screens added under the store, showing details such as the bump screen's name, pairing code, and online/offline status. A paired bump screen can also be unpaired from here.

Create a New Bumpscreen

  • Bumpscreen name: Provide a name for the bumpscreen.
  • Display Products by Alias Name in KDS: If toggled ON, the product's alias name (short name) will be used in KDS instead of the product's real name (long name).
  • Display Category Name in KDS: Choose whether or not to display the category name of the products in KDS.
  • Conditions: You can define bump screen conditions based on available sales channels (POS, Online Ordering, Menu Log, DoorDash, Uber Eats). For each condition, selection of Bump Screen Tags and Sales type are optional as well as can be multi-selected.
    • Sales-Channel (Mandatory). Defines the sales channel from which the order is placed. Tickets will appear in KDS only for orders from the configured sales channels.
    • Bump Screen tags (Optional): Each product can have one or more bump screen tags. Existing tags can be assigned, or new ones can be created and assigned. One or more of these tags can be mapped to a bump screen. If empty all products will be displayed irrespective of its tags.
    • Sale Type (Optional): To filter specific sales types, one or more sales types can be added. If empty all sales-type orders will be displayed.

For using the same bump screen to handle orders from multiple sales channels, additional conditions can be added.

In the example above, all products processed through the POS, regardless of their sales channels, that are assigned the "Hot Drinks" bump screen tags, will be displayed on this bump screen's interface.

Bump Screen Tag Functionality and KDS Ticket Display

  • When Bump Screen Tags Are Assigned: Products associated with specific Bump Screen tags are displayed on the KDS when purchased through their respective sales channels. This ensures that only tagged products appear as tickets on the KDS, facilitating focused preparation and reducing clutter.

  • When No Bump Screen Tags Are Assigned: All products, regardless of type, purchased through the respective sales channels are displayed on the KDS. This default setting ensures that the kitchen staff is notified of every item sold, which is useful for establishments with a simpler menu or workflow.

  • Mixed Orders (Tagged and Untagged Products): In orders containing both tagged and untagged products, only the items with assigned Bump Screen tags are displayed on the KDS. This selective display ensures that the kitchen focuses on items requiring immediate attention, while other items might be managed through alternative workflows.

Implementing Bump Screen tags effectively can enhance kitchen efficiency by directing attention to specific items and reducing unnecessary information on the display.

Sales Type Functionality

  • When Sales type is set, products purchased via selected sales type will be dislpayed in KDS as tickets.
  • When none of the sales type is not set, products purchased via all sales type will be displayed.
