Gift Cards Types

There are two main types of gift cards: Preloaded Cards and Open Cards.

  • Preloaded Cards: These cards have a fixed amount set at the time of creation. They are of two types:
    • Preactivated Preloaded Cards: Already activated at the time of creation. Can be used immediately without needing to be sold through the POS system.
    • Non-Preactivated Preloaded Cards: Require activation through the POS system. Sold through POS to make them active.
  • Open Cards: These cards allow the amount to be set at the time of sale, as per the customer’s requirement. Activated during the sale process.

Selling Gift Cards in the POS System

Only inactive gift cards can be sold in the POS system, which includes Non-Preactivated Preloaded Cards and Open Cards.

Steps to do a gift card sale

Scan or manually enter the gift card barcode. This action will open a gift card dialog box. If it is an open gift card, it will require to enter its amount in addtion to customer's email id. Barcode scanning

Upon clicking "Add To Cart", the gift card gets added to the card. Add gift card to the cart

A gift card can sold using any of the available payment methods.
